Here's our ship - the Maasdam off Bar Harbor on Sunday, August 31. We had to take a tender from the ship to the shore. This was the only port where this was needed. I'll get more things posted eventually.
On this ship the tenders were special boats - different color than life boats and with enclosed seating with window. I noticed that the tenders were made in Norway while the ship was made in Italy.

Yes, that's the tender just to the left of the four-masted ship. the Maasdam carried two (I think) tenders with it.
I think all the lifeboats can be used as tenders.
