Drops on a web

Resting butterfly

This one and a few of its friends have been fluttering a lot in the front yard. It was very quiet this morning and I was able to get a close-up. I thought he might be a goner but later he wasn't there so I guess he was just resting. (When I click on the photo at the left an extreme close-up pops up.)

Mum progression

Here is a composite of a mum plant - Monday through Friday this week. If you click on it a larger view might come up.

Here's what the same plant looked like on September 15 -

Sweet Potato Plant...

Finally we are getting some rain today - light showers this morning but it is supposed to continue throughout the day. Here is the sweet potato plant on the deck. Early in the season we had it closer to the edge of the deck and the ground hog nibbled it down to the stem, but now it has recovered nicely. I took this photo yesterday.

You've seen the lions at the NYC Library?

They have nothing on us!

Starting to Get Ready

Well, we're starting to get ready to pack, etc. for our trip that starts this Saturday. It's been eleven years since we've been to Quebec or Montreal. Some of the places we've never been. From some of the places I'll post with the cell phone directly to the blog. It will probably be messy but I'll clean it all up after we get back.

Water from the sky!

About 5:30 this evening water started pouring from the sky! It didn't last a long time but enough that everything got very wet. Maybe there's a word for this phenomenon.

Another warm morning!

Hummingbird

Here's video of a hummingbird at our feeder - click on the arrow.

Hot dry summer

It's been very dry - hasn't rained for about two weeks. I'm keeping part of the front yard green and, of course, the flowers.

Whirly thing

I got this new whirly thing at the statehouse last Wednesday. The gift shop there is moving its location so this was a good deal. We think it's neat on the back deck! Click on the little arrow to see it spin.

A rose in the front garden

Just taken this morning. Perhaps I will try to put a new picture here when I can.

Jim Tressel

I took this picture a few weeks ago with the cell phone at the statehouse. I uploaded it to the blog straight from the phone.

First Time

This is the first post on this blog. I am not sure what use I will make of it but we will see!
