Neighbor's Snowman

Though we've had a lot of snow we haven't seen many snow folk built near us. Today the temperature was about 35 F and the neighbor children across the street built this guy.

End the Hate

In the wake of the mass shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 19 others in Tucson, we must end the violent rhetoric that has exploded in American politics over the past two years.

That's why I signed this petition calling on every member of Congress, as well as the major TV news networks, to put an end to any overt or implied appeals to violence in our political debate.

Light Snow Today

After all the December snow melting, today we are having a little coating. The prediction is for not much - we shall see.

Happy New Year!

Not a very picturesque start to the new year. The snow is completely gone as we've had warm temperatures - in the fifties F today. Last night it rained so the stream is running strong. The prediction is for the cold to return this evening.

Here is the newest addition! Scans taken yesterday determined this is Elizabeth Janette - due to make appearance about May 1. Congratulations to Meg and Zab!

All of Ledge Lane

Only ten houses have a Ledge Lane address - six on the north side and four on the south side.

While it snowed outside we decorated the tree today.

This morning there were two young deer play fighting in the ravine. I couldn't get a photo of them. Nearby was this Mama keeping watch.

John Putnam Weddle

John Putnam Weddle was born at 8:48 P.M., Friday, November 12, 2010, at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He weighed 5 pounds, 3.6 ounces. He decided to arrive about a month earlier than expected. Mother Heather Feeley Weddle and Father Ryan Bradford Weddle are doing fine!

We had a wind storm today - not bad for us - no damage. The stream is rolling, though.

H. Cyrus Farnum

I was recently reminded of an old painting that came to us from Jane's family. It shows a cabin in Grace, Mississippi. Finally I was able to make out the signature and discerned that is was painted by a well known artist - H. Cyrus Farnum. He did most of his work in Rhode Island. If I would have realized that before our recent trip there we might have looked for some other examples of his work.

I pass by this barn in Northwest Columbus often. I like the cupola. Today I stopped and took these photos.

New Plant Hanger

We got this new plant hanger/hook today it can go back on the "dock" in the ravine or it can go in the front. Besides plants it will hold a pumpkin for Hallowe'en.

A New Generation!

Presenting a new Weddle! He is due in the middle of December to Heather and Ryan Weddle. His name is currently planned to be John Putnam Weddle. This picture above was his first image - from the middle of June. Below is one from July 22.

Katydid

Spencer was nosing what appeared to be a leaf - it jumped and startled him! I Googled it - found out it's a katydid.

Rain

We finally got rain - last night and off and on today. The stream is flowing.

Summer Visitor

This lady stopped by this afternoon. We haven't seen many of her kind recently - they may have been here but we didn't see them. Often when we see one there are others nearby, but this time only one. We see more in the colder months when they have to travel further to forage.

Chicken!

This morning our neighbor John Chandler called to say he was smoking some chickens and would we like one, so after a bad joke I said of course and tonight that's what we had for supper!
Tonight we ate half - absolutely wonderful! We were able to restrain ourselves so, tomorrow - the other half.
