Tuesday is Usually Salmon Day -

When weather permits I do the salmon on the grill. This year we have a basket which makes for easy handling and turning -

On the grill:
Just off the grill:

Plated with green beans cooked with bacon,
the bacon grease, water, and salt
in the pan that fried the bacon:

The seasoning on the salmon is Everson Spices Supreme Pepper Steak Seasoning. We started using this when we bought some salmon at a Kroger store that had been so seasoned. They kindly let us buy the seasoning.

Sweet 100s

Here are some tomatoes - little ones - In future days I'll show them as the redden.

Oranges and Lemons

I have decided that we do not have the right soil, spot, whatever for an azalea so yesterday we replaced it with a rose called Oranges and Lemons. Little roses have done well in this area so we can hope this one flourishes.

Here's a little meal -

Someone you may know has a blog dedicated to her munchies, so I thought I would break the blog drought and show last night's supper. A pork chop seasoned with a variety of spices, etc. and then broiled for seven minutes per side about five inches below the element of the electric stove broiler:

A salad finished the meal:
Since January third I have lost nearly 38 pounds.

Independence Day!!

Independence Day falls on July 4. They have July 4 in every country but in the U.S.A. it's Independence Day so let's call it by the correct name!

"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival... It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

- from a letter from John Adams to his wife Abigail in July, 1776

Today is Spencer's 6th Birthday!

He just had a bath and trim yesterday so he looked good in this birthday photo!

For supper we went to Louie's Grill which is not too far away. We've been wanting to try it since reading about it in the Columbus Foodie blog. Jane had the Fusion Punch:

We both had the Chipotle Crab Soup - this is a CUP - it was wonderful!

Jane had the Mofungo Chicken (I should have turned the plate so the chicken wouldn't have looked small - it wasn't small she brought some home.

I had the Jambalaya - the shrimp in it were very good!

Teacup Maltese

We went to the Worthington Farmers' Market today and there was a big art festival going on too. We didn't get anything much but saw this cute little Maltese in its little satchel. Spencer went along and had a good time seeing a lot of dogs there.

Sharing time again -

Here is a mola that I have had for many years. Molas are made by the Kuna people of the San Blas Islands off the coast of Panama. I first found out about molas from a friend of mine who had lived in Panama for a time. I found this one at a flea market back in the early seventies - a man who had worked on the Panama Canal was there with many for sale. I should have bought more than one but $10.00 was worth more then. It is about 15" by 20"

New Acquisition

Friday we went to the Columbus Art Festival and bought this water color by Gary D. Curtis of Woodstock, Georgia.

The dimensions of the work itself are about 4" by 7"

It came framed under glass and you may see reflections not part of the piece. I tried to avoid them in these photographs and was more successful in the top picture.

Baby Robin in our White Pine

It's the last one to leave the nest - there were three huddled there yesterday.

A few minutes later I checked the nest and now it's empty. I don't know if they come back for a spell or not. I'll watch.

Memorial Day

Here's the new flag John Carragher sent for my birthday. It flew over Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, on my birthday last year. It just fits in our space. Thanks again, John!
